Invocation is a First-Person Ghost Photography Simulator. Play as a paranormal investigator and explore a dark, atmospheric mansion where lost spirits still lurk in the shadows. This game takes 20-40 minutes to complete.

Sarah Winstead is killed in a car accident at a very young age, and awakens to find herself lost in dark labyrinth called the Otherside. Searching for a way back, Sarah encounters a powerful creature which promises to take her back to the world of the living, but at a price she will only come to know much later. Desperate, Sarah agrees, and is quickly revived. She awakens once again in a hospital bed, embraced by her parents who were assured by doctors that she would not survive.

Years later, Sarah has recovered from her car accident, but is still grappling with her near death experience. She believes that her brief escapade into the afterlife has awakened her ability to feel the presence of ghosts who wander amongst the living. She finds herself frequently disturbed by the many spirits who latch onto her, believing that she can somehow return them back to life.

Sarah moves with her family to Echo Canyon, a place where spirits pour out of a rift between the real world and the Otherside. The dark energy terrorizes the residents of Echo Canyon, many of whom are driven insane or killed under mysterious circumstances.

Determined to find and seal the rifts to the Otherside, Sarah teams up with an amateur ghost hunter named Jacob. Jacob has long searched for the spirit of his deceased sister, Lily, but has yet to find even a trace her. Recognizing Sarah's potential as someone who can locate spirits, Jacob lends Sarah his ghost hunting equipment and guides her in tracking down the spirits coming from the Otherside.

In this installment, Sarah investigates the Blackwell House, believed to be inhabited by many of these dark spirits.

The objective of this game is to take photographs of ghosts who hide in various rooms of the level. The ghost can only be seen through the viewfinder of the player's camera. The player will sometimes need to solve environmental puzzles in order to find ghosts.

Some ghosts will become hostile when seen in the viewfinder, and will attempt to attack the player. If the player is attacked too many times, their sanity will be depleted and they will lose the match and have to restart. There is one level included in this game with four cases to choose from.

This game features the following:

  • An immersive level for the player to explore.
  • Four paranormal cases to take on.
  • Four ghostly enemy types.
  • A ghost-hunting gameplay system with the following tools:
    • A camera to take photos of ghosts.
    • A radar for detecting the distance of the closest ghost.
    • A spirit box for listening to otherworldly messages from the static.
  • An inventory system and collectible items.
  • An item shop and a stat upgrade system.
  • A retro, PSX visual style.
  • Custom-made low poly 3D assets.
  • Atmospheric sound design.
  • A small fraction of a much larger story.

The game's seriously interesting and it does remind me of both Fatal Frame and Phasmophobia. I hope you continue developing this game. Also, I would think about putting this game on Steam. Keep it up.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. https://www.youtube.com/@Levont

Thank you for checking out the game and uploading your playthrough, I appreciate it! And yes, I've been looking into getting this on Steam and will probably get that process started fairly soon! :)

Love the gameplay i hope there is more story to the ghosts and also different designs to the ghosts

Thank you for playing! I do have plans for new locations and ghosts, and I have the rest of the story planned out as well. It's just a matter of time and resources to create the full game, so keep an eye out for updates! :)

No plans for Android at the moment, sorry!

Fatal Frame vibes for sure, but maybe better. What I didn't like about Fatal Frame was the story usually, and maybe the atmosphere wasn't that great

Thank you!

This was a nice little spooky game! I really appreciate how it was all your own original art. The consistent color palette and textures all throughout it gave the game a pleasant and unique feel. I like the gameplay you have going on with doing weird tasks around the house to try to bring out the ghost, with the letters giving you hints. I think making these tasks progressively more complicated would be fun. I noticed some things change around the house as you collect more photos, such as the TV turning on, those were nice additions and think more stuff like that would help give a better feeling of progression

Here's a few random points:
- The player controller feels very 'sticky', as in any time you nudge into something you come to a complete stop. I think Unity has some kind of 'friction' setting to let you slide instead of stick that would help smooth things out a lot
- The subtle ambient sounds like the rattling, knocking, and breathing were a bit too quiet, especially if you play on speakers. I had to put headphones on to even notice they were happening. I think they should be boosted up a bit, because they add a lot to the atmosphere
- I'm very grateful that you chose to not make the scare noise deafeningly loud, my ears thank you!
- Holding Tab in order to check how many more photos you need felt kind of unconventional to me. I don't think the average player would think to be checking Tab. It feels like something that should just be on the screen at all times, or else maybe just shown on the Right Click camera HUD instead? When you successfully take a photo, I think it should appear on its own with a sound or something so you know you did it right

Keep up the great work! I look forward to whatever else you have planned

Good game actually, but I can spam RMB + LMB and will take a photo and will not be scared, you can add same delay for photos, good job

Good catch! I’ll make an update for that soon. Thank you!
